This bull moose was shot by Teddy Roosevelt while hunting in Maine in the late 1800's. In his later years, President Roosevelt gave this trophy head to his son and namesake Theodore, who was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He in turn donated it to the Henry Hudson, now Westchester - Putnam B.S.A. Council where it hung in their offices. Due to merger of councils, this large mount could no longer be accommodated and the moose was then given to Boy Scout Troop 6. located in the First Dutch Reformed Church of North Tarrytown, NY. Doug Cole's father Dr. Robert M. Cole was the troop's assistant Scoutmaster and a member of the church. After several years the moose head we zen down and stored in a large closet in the church, where Doug remembered seeing it as an eight year old child.
